How many ovaries does a woman have?

Women have a total of two ovaries, one on each side. In a normal woman, there are two ovaries, which are connected to the uterus through the left and right fallopian tubes. The ovaries are important internal reproductive organs for women. In addition to ovulating every month to produce offspring, they are also the main sex hormone-secreting organs that maintain the secondary sexual characteristics of women. There are many factors that can affect ovarian function, such as plastic products, insecticides, hair dyes and other chemical agents, radiation, nutritional status and psychological state. Some women who have had one ovary removed due to ovarian tumor or even trauma still have the ability to have children if the opposite ovary is functional and the fallopian tubes and uterus are normal, but the chance of conception is reduced. The normal hormone level in the body can also be maintained and no perimenopausal symptoms will occur. If a woman of childbearing age needs to have both ovaries removed due to disease, she will need to take oral hormone replacement medication as prescribed by her doctor, otherwise she will have obvious perimenopausal symptoms. In conclusion, the ovaries are an important organ that distinguishes women from men. It is recommended that women protect their ovarian function by not smoking, not staying up late, and not blindly dieting to avoid harming their ovarian function.
