How the lumbar discs protrude

1, the weight-bearing position of the lumbar intervertebral disc and the force: humans from the day they can walk upright, has given the lumbar intervertebral disc to bear the weight of the upper body mission. In the weight-bearing at the same time, if long-term bending or rotation of the waist, it will accelerate the backward extrusion of the lumbar intervertebral disc or cause the rupture of the outer fiber ring of the intervertebral disc, stimulating the nerves, resulting in low back pain and lower limb pain. 2, mechanical external force: in daily life and work, long-term lumbar improper force, excessive force, pregnancy, incorrect posture or position, long-term repeated external force caused by minor damage, cumulative, acting on the lumbar intervertebral disc, will aggravate the degree of degeneration and thus cause protrusion and nerve compression. 3, the weakness of the disc’s own anatomical factors: intervertebral disc in adulthood gradually lack of blood circulation, ischemia and hypoxia, poor repair ability, after the degeneration, more difficult to repair. Generally speaking, after the disc herniation, the probability of being able to retract on its own is only 1%. 4, congenital anatomical abnormalities: there are congenital developmental abnormalities. Such as lumbar sacralization, sacral lumbarization, lumbosacral pseudo-joint formation, etc., so that the lower lumbar spine under abnormal stress, is one of the factors that cause early or adolescent lumbar disc herniation. It is worth noting here that a “herniated” lumbar disc does not necessarily become a “lumbar disc herniation”, which are two concepts. In clinical work, it is often found that the localization of nerve injury does not match the CT or MRI herniation site. First, a herniated disc may not necessarily be symptomatic, or a symptomatic disc may not be caused by a herniated disc. Second, the degree of disc herniation may not be positively correlated with pain. Some patients have a large herniation with minimal symptoms. In other patients, the symptoms are severe, even though the herniation is not severe. Lumbar disc herniation can be triggered by factors such as sudden weight bearing, flashback, lumbar trauma, improper posture, increased abdominal pressure, cold or moisture, etc.
