How soon can I walk with a broken hamstring?

It usually takes 3 months before you can walk on the ground with a broken hamstring. This is because the hamstring is medically called the Achilles tendon and is part of the main tendon behind the heel bone. Its role is primarily to keep the ankle in plantarflexion. It is a tissue structure formed by the downward migration of the triceps muscles of the lower leg, namely the medial and lateral heads of the gastrocnemius and the piriformis. It is inherently strong, so its healing process takes roughly 3 months if a break occurs. Generally, a broken hamstring requires surgical treatment, in which the hamstring is firmly sutured with non-absorbable sutures and then immobilized in a cast for about 3 months, after which the cast is removed and the patient is generally allowed to gradually return to the ground and resume walking.
