Is it serious that you can’t do NT with low amniotic fluid

You should not worry too much about the low amniotic fluid for NT, and you can repeat the NT test at a later date.

NT test is to check whether the nuchal translucency is thickened by ultrasound, so as to detect the risk of chromosomal abnormality, anatomical abnormality or some genetic syndromes in the fetus at an early stage.

When the amniotic fluid is low, the fetus can’t stretch completely inside the body, so the ultrasound can’t measure the thickness of the nuchal translucency layer during the NT test, which affects the test, and it doesn’t mean that there is any abnormality in the fetus. If the amniotic fluid is low in early pregnancy, it may affect the NT test, so you can wait for another two weeks before having the test done, usually before 14 weeks.

However, if the amniotic fluid is consistently low, it is important to be alert to maternal disease, and the clinician needs to examine the patient according to his or her condition, and find abnormalities and treat them in a timely manner.
