There are some differences between rotator cuff injury and frozen shoulder in terms of pathogenesis, symptoms and treatment methods.
1. Pathogenesis: rotator cuff injury is usually caused by acute injury and chronic strain; frozen shoulder is the aseptic inflammatory reaction of soft tissues such as shoulder joint capsule and ligaments caused by chronic strain, which will cause adhesion of shoulder joint.
2. Symptoms: The symptoms of rotator cuff injury are mainly manifested as pain, weakness and limitation of activities when the shoulder joint is actively abducted, lifted and extended; the symptoms of frozen shoulder are mainly manifested as limitation of active and passive activities of the shoulder joint in all directions.
3. Treatment: In the acute stage of rotator cuff injury, immobilization and braking for 2~3 weeks are needed to keep the shoulder at absolute rest, so that the injured muscles or tendons can be recovered. Frozen shoulder is mainly treated by rehabilitation exercises to increase blood circulation, prevent further adhesion of the joint capsule and improve the symptoms of frozen shoulder.
When there is shoulder pain and activity limitation, you can go to the hospital to improve the relevant examination, clear diagnosis and then follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment, so as not to delay the condition.
