Mifepristone tablets and misoprostol tablets are required for a medication abortion. The gestational sac will be expelled in about 2-6 hours after taking misoprostol tablets. The exact time of expulsion varies depending on the size of the gestational sac and the sensitivity of the patient to the medication. In clinical practice, we have encountered cases in which the gestational sac was expelled within 15 minutes after taking misoprostol, some women expelled the gestational sac within 24 hours, and very few women expelled the gestational sac after taking mifepristone. Medication abortion also has the disadvantages of incomplete abortion and heavy bleeding.
