How to qualify for SCA semen analysis

The SCA reference intervals for passing semen analysis were semen volume ≥2.00 mL; liquefaction time ≤45.00 min; pH 7.0-8.0; sperm concentration ≥17.95 × 106/mL; total number of forward-moving sperm ≥24.15 × 106 per ejaculate; total sperm motility was ≥36.71%; forward-moving sperm motility ≥28.10%; and sperm normal morphology rate ≥ 3.00%. SCA semen analysis test used SCA automatic sperm analyzer and modified Pap smear method, according to the 5th edition of the World Health Organization Laboratory Manual for the Examination and Processing of Human Semen, to detect the main indicators of semen and the rate of normal sperm morphology, and statistically processed in accordance with the standardized document C28-A2 of the National Clinical and Laboratory Standards Society (NCCLS). SCA semen analysis is increasingly widely used for the evaluation of male fertility, diagnosis of male reproductive disorders, and assisted reproductive technologies. The reference interval of semen analysis provides a scientific laboratory judgment basis for clinical infertility diagnosis and treatment or assisted reproductive technology implementation, and whether it is qualified or not should be judged according to the doctor’s comprehensive specific situation.
