Causes of sudden chest and back pain

The causes of sudden chest and back pain include respiratory system diseases such as pneumothorax and acute pleurisy, digestive system diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux disease, and circulatory system diseases such as myocardial infarction and aortic coarctation.
1. Respiratory system diseases
(1) Pneumothorax: usually caused by trauma, emphysema and other causes, resulting in damage to lung tissue and pleura, allowing gas to enter the pleural cavity, manifested as severe pain in the chest, which can radiate to the back of the chest.
(2) Acute pleurisy: it is caused by the entry of pathogenic bacteria into the chest cavity, resulting in inflammation of the pleura, which can be divided into exudative pleurisy and dry pleurisy. Exudative pleurisy can be characterized by severe chest pain, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, and so on.
2. Digestive system diseases
Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): gastric contents reflux into the esophagus due to relaxation of cardia sphincter, causing heartburn, acid reflux and other symptoms, often with burning sensation at the back of the sternum, and in severe cases, it can be discharged to the back.
3. Circulatory system diseases
(1) Myocardial infarction: myocardial ischemia and necrosis due to coronary artery occlusion, typical symptoms of precordial pressure-like pain, and in severe cases, it may involve the back and cause pain in the chest and back.
(2) Aortic coarctation: As the blood in the aorta enters into the aorta via the rupture of the endothelium, it is a serious cardiovascular emergency, which is manifested as a sudden tearing pain in the chest and back.
If you have sudden chest and back pain, you must go to the hospital in time to find out the cause and then treat it, so as not to delay your condition.
