Psoriasis is a common chronic erythematous scaly skin disease, the exact mechanism of occurrence is still unknown, but in recent years it is considered to be a typical psychosomatic disease. Holistic thinking refers to the holistic thinking of the biopsychosocial medical model, combined with Chinese and Western medicine and psychological means to prevent and treat the disease. It is an important guiding significance for the analysis of the etiology and clinical diagnosis and treatment of psoriasis. Understanding the causative factors of psoriasis with holistic thinking Psychosomatic medicine believes that psychosocial factors are as important as biological and physical and chemical factors in etiology, and are important aspects of the occurrence or development of psychosomatic diseases that cannot be ignored. In the past, scholars both at home and abroad have discussed the causes of psoriasis from the biological (such as streptococcal infection), genetic, metabolic and physical and chemical factors, but neglected the role of psychological and social factors in the development of psoriasis. In recent years, many studies have shown that the development of psoriasis is closely related to the patient’s personality, emotion, tension, worry and other psychological factors and social environment, and is considered a typical psychosomatic disease. Therefore, dermatologists in China have recently proposed to reconceptualize the purpose of medicine and examine the research work of psoriasis according to the modern medical model. Patients with psychosomatic diseases have both physical and psychological susceptibility qualities. Over the years, it has been studied that psoriasis is associated with polygenic inheritance, which can be regarded as the origin of psoriasis, and that personality is related to the psychological susceptibility of psoriasis. For example, Yang Xueqin et al. reported that type A personality of psoriasis is the majority. Psychological and social factors refer to various objective conditions or mental stimuli that individuals cannot tolerate in the surrounding environment and real life, which are the external conditions for psoriasis triggering and occurrence. The epidermal proliferation and maturation control system is in a sub-stable state, and the expression of genes is affected by the internal and external environment, and the external environment affects the internal environment. The occurrence, aggravation, remission and cure of psoriasis are closely related to mental tension and psychological stress. The application of holistic thinking method requires that when studying the causative factors of psoriasis, a comprehensive etiological study should be conducted on psychosocial, biological and physical and chemical factors, so as to overcome one-sidedness, identify the causes and find out the exact mechanism of psoriasis. Holistic and comprehensive diagnosis of psoriasis Holistic and comprehensive thinking requires that in the process of examining and diagnosing psoriasis, firstly, the diagnosis of the antigenic disease should be clarified, including comprehensive and careful physical examination and physical and chemical tests. On the other hand, psychological diagnosis should also be made through specific examinations using psychological, social and psychiatric research methods to address the patient’s psychological problems. Only through the overall comprehensive examination and diagnosis in two aspects can we provide the basis for psoriasis treatment in both psychological and physical aspects. In the prevention and treatment of psoriasis, the application of overall comprehensive thinking means to set up integrated prevention and treatment measures combining body repellent and psychology, pay attention to the reasonable cooperation of multiple effective methods for body repellent and psychosomatic diseases, and maximize the role of the body’s self-regulation mechanism of mind and body. In the past, in the treatment of psoriasis, the blind pursuit of recent curative effects and even “root cure” caused patients to “throw themselves at random” and inquire about the root cure everywhere, while doctors also tried to find the “magic pill” for psoriasis treatment. The doctor also tries to find the “panacea” for the treatment of psoriasis, especially some wandering doctors propagate “package cure” and “root cure for psoriasis”, which makes the treatment of psoriasis very confusing. The result of such medical treatment not only does not help treat psoriasis, but also increases the economic burden of patients, aggravates their psychological pressure, and even causes various adverse reactions to the treatment. Such as the abuse of corticosteroids to aggravate the disease, the use of leukemia, ethylene imine caused leukemia, the use of arsenic-containing preparations to cause cancer, and so on, to name a few examples. Psoriasis is a chronic psychosomatic disease affected by multiple factors. We should reasonably use some drugs known to be safe and effective for the condition, and at the same time spend some time to relieve patients of various psychological burdens and eliminate harmful psychology that is not conducive to disease recovery, so that patients can correctly treat the chronic process of psoriasis and the reality that it is prone to recurrence, and enhance science and self-awareness. The feedback therapy theory of psychosomatic medicine reveals that the body has a self-mind-body regulation mechanism, which can play a role in early treatment. In China, Yang Xueqin and others use biofeedback training to make the patient’s spirit and nerves relax as much as possible, which is conducive to the self-regulation of body functions, so that some patients can be cured by biofeedback therapy alone without taking medication, which is very illustrative. Therefore, in order to seek remission or recovery from psoriasis, not only professional biological treatment is needed, but also psychological treatment should be emphasized, and it is extremely important to study psychological treatment methods while seeking medication for the prevention and treatment of psoriasis. Combination of biological treatment, psychological adjustment and social environment Psychology believes that psychosomatic diseases are stimulated by adverse social environmental factors and pathological psychological factors. Therefore, in the process of treating psoriasis, while carrying out positive biological treatment, we must pay attention to the analysis and treatment of patients’ psychological disorders and mental disorders, pay attention to the adjustment and transformation of relevant social and environmental factors, and create a good social environment conducive to the recovery of psoriasis, which will not only be beneficial to the recovery of psoriasis, but also to the prevention of the occurrence and recurrence of psoriasis. In this regard, in addition to the doctors’ patient and meticulous psychological conversation for different psychological conditions of patients, teaching patients about psoriasis and self-care knowledge, letting patients understand the impact of emotions and eating habits on the disease, encouraging patients to participate in useful recreational and sports activities, eliminating fear, anxiety and inferiority complex about psoriasis, and strengthening patients’ confidence in treatment, what is more important is the participation of the whole society. For example, in reducing the excessive economic costs of patients, dealing with fraudulent “miracle doctors and traveling doctors”, eliminating misunderstandings about psoriasis (such as “contagious”), promoting safe and effective treatment methods, giving more care and support to psoriasis patients, and protecting the personal interests of patients. The psoriasis prevention and treatment research foundation called for by domestic experts and the developing community medicine will certainly play an important role in the prevention and treatment of psoriasis. The authors suggest setting up a psoriasis treatment center in a certain region (e.g. within a certain population and geographical boundary) through administrative participation to treat psoriasis patients, coordinate the prevention and treatment of psoriasis in the region, and organize macroscopic research in the region. Combination of modern medical methods and traditional Chinese medicine Modern medical research on the prevention and treatment of psoriasis is progressing fast, so we should take both internal and external aspects into consideration in the treatment, and try to choose safe and effective methods, and at the same time, we should pay attention to drawing on the strengths of Chinese medicine. Traditional medicine in China has rich connotations in regulating the body, mind and spirit, which can be used as appropriate in the prevention and treatment of psoriasis, such as traditional “faith therapy”, “transferring interest”, “changing the environment” and other psychological therapies. “In addition, “taijiquan”, qigong, Yangge dance, music, poetry, bonsai appreciation, etc. are beneficial to nourishing and clearing the mind, eliminating worries, improving psychological tolerance, reducing stimulation and injury, and promoting psoriasis recovery. Chinese medicine has a unique way to treat psoriasis, such as activating blood circulation and resolving blood stasis, which can improve the microcirculation of the body, promote the transformation or absorption of the proliferative lesions of psoriasis cells, and at the same time play the role of inhibiting excessive cell proliferation. Inspired by the effectiveness of western medicine in the treatment of psoriasis, many reports in recent years have explored the treatment of psoriasis with Chinese herbal medicine from the anti-tumor pathway and achieved certain effects, which can be used as reference in the treatment.
