People with small lung nodules do not necessarily lose weight. Small lung nodules are only a diagnosis on imaging and do not represent a specific disease, and it is not possible to determine whether a patient will lose weight just from small lung nodules. Lung nodules are focal, rounded, hyperdense lung shadows <1cm in diameter, which can be solid nodules or ground-glass nodules, sometimes only one, sometimes multiple, usually <5mm in diameter, also known as lung micronodules. Lung nodules may be caused by a variety of diseases, such as lung infections, tuberculosis, lung cancer, lung vascular abnormalities, benign lung tumors and so on. Small nodules in the lungs can cause corresponding clinical symptoms according to their cause, location and size, and not all diseases lead to wasting. When lung nodules are caused by malignant tumors, tuberculosis, etc., a part of the population may experience symptoms of wasting. If patients with lung nodules have symptoms of wasting, it is recommended to consult a doctor in time to clarify the cause of the disease and follow the doctor's instructions, so as not to delay the condition.
