How to Treat Heart Failure Coughing Up Blood and Sputum

Coughing up bloody sputum in heart failure is clinically mainly caused by pulmonary edema due to acute left heart failure, which must be hospitalized to be treated with high-flow oxygen, medication and so on. Oxygen intake: immediate high-flow nasal cannula oxygen, in severe cases, non-invasive ventilator continuous pressure (CPAP) or bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) oxygen, increase intra-alveolar pressure, not only to enhance gas exchange, but also to combat tissue fluid to the alveolar infiltration. Drug therapy: giving diuretics and vasodilator drugs effectively reduces pulmonary stasis, and the symptoms of coughing and hemoptysis will gradually be relieved. Commonly used furosemide tablets, hydrochlorothiazide tablets, sodium nitroprusside for injection, nitroglycerin tablets and so on. Avoid factors that may aggravate heart failure, such as infection, exertion and strenuous exercise, and maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a low-salt diet and controlled water intake. Do not self-medicate, it is recommended to use drugs under the guidance of a doctor.
