Herpes simplex can be treated with 1% Penciclovir Ointment and 3% Phosphinothricin Ointment, but the topical medications are only adjunctive.
1…1% Penciclovir Ointment: Topical application of 1% Penciclovir Ointment in herpes simplex patients can inhibit herpes simplex virus type 1 and herpes simplex virus type 2 activity.
2.3% phosphinothricin ointment: For acyclovir-resistant patients, topical application of 3% phosphinothricin ointment can inhibit herpes simplex virus.
However, topical herpes simplex medications alone are generally less effective than oral and intravenous medications and are usually used as adjunctive therapy. Therefore, in addition to topical antiviral ointment, herpes simplex may also require oral and intravenous antiviral medication.
It is recommended that herpes simplex patients actively go to the hospital for examination and follow the doctor’s treatment plan.
