Why are hearing aids “scientifically selected” and not “purchased at will”?

”We bought a hearing aid from a pharmacy before, but it was noisy and the old man didn’t like to wear it. I have used more than 10,000 yuan for this hearing aid, but the effect of wearing it has not been very good, and I have gone to the place that sells hearing aids several times to get it, but it is still the same, so I have not gone much since then. Many people with hearing loss or their families buy hearing aids at random due to lack of knowledge or for the sake of cheapness, but as a result, the hearing aids do not work as expected and they feel remorseful. Why is this so? The key is that people are not aware of this point – hearing aids are “scientific options”, not “random purchases”. If you have bad eyes, no one would buy glasses on the Internet or at a medical device store, because we all know that you need to have your eyesight checked. If you wear glasses are not suitable, not only vision correction is not up to standard, but also likely to lead to their own vision loss. If you have a bad ear, hearing aids are an effective and realistic solution if there is no treatment available. The basic principle of hearing aids is to process speech and ambient sounds to make use of the residual hearing of patients with hearing loss to facilitate better listening. If the hearing loss is particularly severe, usually reaching 120 decibels, the residual hearing is basically gone and there is no point in wearing a hearing aid. There are strict professional requirements for hearing aid fitting, and you need to go to a professional hearing rehabilitation facility. The hearing aid dispenser first checks the patient’s hearing in detail (including air conduction test, bone conduction test, speech test, etc.) and gets a complete hearing report. Then, based on the hearing report and the patient’s hearing needs, and taking into account the patient’s budget, the hearing aid dispenser selects a hearing aid model that suits the patient’s needs. After the hearing aid model is selected, the fitter inputs the patient’s hearing report into the computer, fine-tunes the hearing aid through professional software, and lets the patient experience the effect of the hearing aid on the spot. The patient gives feedback to the fitter on the effect of the hearing aid, and the fitter then adjusts the hearing aid according to the situation, usually after 2-4 times of fine-tuning, to achieve a better wearing effect. After wearing a hearing aid, there is usually a 1 to 3 month adjustment period. After wearing a hearing aid, many sounds that were inaudible can be heard, and the hearing environment has definitely changed. Patients need to start with a quiet environment and slowly transition to a noisy environment; they should give feedback to the fitter about the problems they encounter during the wearing process. Hearing aids usually last 5 to 8 years, and after-sales service is equally important. In the future, it is usually necessary to clean and maintain the hearing aid 1-2 times a year. If there is a change in the patient’s hearing condition, the fitter will need to re-check the patient’s hearing condition and re-adjust the hearing aid. From the above, we can see that whether a patient with hearing loss can wear hearing aids, what type of hearing aids to wear and how to ensure the effect of wearing hearing aids is a systematic and professional scientific process, hearing aids are “scientific matching” not “random purchase”. Hearing aids are “scientifically selected”, not “purchased at will”.
