1. Chest pain: About 30% of the tumors directly invade the pleura, ribs and chest wall, which can cause chest pain of degree. When the tumor is located near the pleura, it will produce irregular dull pain or hidden pain, and the pain will be aggravated when breathing and coughing. When the ribs and spine are invaded, there is pressure pain but it is not related to breathing and coughing. If the tumor compresses intercostal nerve, the chest pain may involve its distribution area. 2.Respiratory difficulty Tumor presses the large airway, inspiratory respiratory difficulty may appear. 3.Swallowing difficulty can be caused by cancer invasion or compression of history, and can also cause broncho-oesophageal fistula, leading to lung infection. 4.Heartness of voice can occur when cancer directly presses or metastasizes to the enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes and presses the recurrent laryngeal nerve (mostly seen on the left side). 5.Superior vena cava compression syndrome: When cancer invades the mediastinum and presses the superior vena cava, the superior vena cava reflux is blocked, resulting in edema of head, face, neck and upper limbs as well as bruising and varicose veins in the anterior thorax, which can cause headache and dizziness. 6.Horner’s syndrome: Lung cancer located in the lung tongue called Pancoast carcinoma can compress the sympathetic nerve in the neck, causing droopy eyelid, narrow pupil, sunken eye, and no or little sweat in the lateral forehead and chest wall. Tumor compression on the brachial plexus often causes burning pain mainly in the armpit and to the inner part of the upper limb, especially at night. Please note: hoarseness is easy to ignore! And patients often ask about it. Let me explain emphatically: sudden hoarseness, especially for more than 1 week, with progressive worsening! Highly suspicious of mediastinal lymph node metastasis. The CT of the chest should be done immediately, and enhanced CT is better – to understand the lymph node metastasis; and in the short term, taking anti-inflammatory drugs or “fire-clearing Chinese medicine” can improve, the possibility of benign is great, is the usual “fire”, do not worry.
