Cervicopharyngeal syndrome is a cervicopharyngeal syndrome that does not present with symptoms of dry throat and cough.
Cervicopharyngeal syndrome refers to various causes of cervical spine pathology, can cause mild misalignment, displacement and hyperplasia of the cervical spine, resulting in a series of clinical symptoms of abnormal pharyngeal sensation caused by stimulation of the muscles and mucous membranes of the pharynx, pulling and squeezing, and stimulation of the pharyngeal nerve. The main clinical manifestations include: neck symptoms, pharyngeal symptoms and accompanying symptoms.
1. Neck symptoms: neck movement is slightly limited or there are pressure points of cervical muscle tension.
2. Pharyngeal symptoms: foreign body sensation in the pharynx, such as ‘hair’ or foreign body obstruction, swallowed, spit out, the pharynx is extremely sensitive, easy to cause nausea when brushing teeth or gargling, tobacco and alcohol stimulation or eating fried food symptoms worsened. Certain patients with chronic cervical spondylosis or head and neck flexion trauma may have persistent pharyngeal obstruction. However, there is generally little pain.
3. Accompanying symptoms:
(1) Some patients have swallowing disorders, often choking when eating or drinking, sometimes need to tilt the head or turn the head and neck sideways to relieve the symptoms and complete the swallowing action. A few patients have poor or labored breathing, chest pressure, hoarseness, and easy fatigue of the vocal cords.
(2) Some patients have different degrees of dizziness, headache, insomnia, tinnitus, visual impairment, chest tightness, palpitations and other symptoms of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular phytoneurological dysfunction.
When the diagnosis of cervicopharyngeal syndrome is confirmed, the receiving doctor’s opinion can be sought, and the examination can be fully perfected to clarify the cause of the symptoms of dry throat and cough.
