Can Appendix Cancer Be Cured in the Late Stage?

The chances of complete cure after middle and late stage of cecum cancer are not high, and the survival time of patients is related to their severity and treatment methods. Generally speaking, in the early stage of cecum cancer, the tumor is only confined to the mucous membrane layer of cecum, and the tumor can be eradicated through surgical treatment. However, in middle and late stage, the tumor has broken through to the plasma membrane layer of cecum, and lymphatic and distant organ metastasis can occur, at this time, the chance of complete cure will be reduced. Although the chances of curing appendix cancer in middle and late stages are small, patients should not give up the treatment. Surgery can be performed to remove the tumor, and combined with comprehensive treatments such as postoperative chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy to control the growth and spread of the cancer cells, so as to prolong the survival rate of the patients. It should be noted that patients need to actively cooperate with doctor’s treatment, have regular review, improve psychological quality and adjust mentality, which all play a role in improving survival rate.
