Diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer

Surgery for pancreatic cancer is the best treatment for pancreatic cancer and is mainly indicated for early stage patients. Radical resection is the primary method of treatment for this disease. Most of the masses are located in the ventral pancreatic head and have no direct relationship with the pancreatic duct and duodenal wall. Complete resection of the tumor is reported to be feasible in about 80% of patients, and if performed, good results are often obtained. Depending on the tumor site, size, local infiltration and distant metastasis, pancreaticoduodenectomy, pancreatic body caudal resection, simple tumor resection, etc. are feasible. The treatment of pancreatic cancer can be adjuvant chemotherapy after surgery, mainly based on gemcitabine, combined with other drugs, which can prolong the survival. The purpose of treatment must be explained to patients before chemotherapy. Patients receiving chemotherapy must be closely followed up, including physical examination, abdomen, chest imaging and blood CA19-9 examination. Indications: Adjuvant chemotherapy after radical surgical resection; pancreatic cancer with metastasis; locally progressive unresectable pancreatic cancer, recurrent metastasis after surgery or other treatments Radiotherapy is a common medical treatment for cancer, and pancreatic cancer is no exception. Radiotherapy can be chosen when the lesion cannot be resected, metastatic lesion or preoperative to make the tumor lesion smaller. However, radiotherapy treatment is not precise enough, the treatment time is long, patients suffer a lot, and there are many side effects that some patients’ bodies cannot carry. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive tumor ablation, which is developed based on the traditional thermal therapy. Its real-time image tracking system and synchronous efficacy evaluation system make its treatment accuracy greatly improved, with few side effects and greatly shortened treatment time, generally only 1-2 times and 1-7 days are needed to complete the whole treatment.
