What is the process of medical abortion

Medical abortion is the process of terminating a pregnancy in the early stages of pregnancy by taking mifepristone tablets + misoprostol by mouth. Medical abortion is popular among women because it is simple and relatively safe to perform. However, in reality, medical abortion is a very complicated and technical process that can lead to many gynecological diseases and even lifelong infertility if the process is not performed properly. The following is a detailed description of the main process of medical abortion: the time of medical abortion is early pregnancy (gestation period < 49 days) through oral medication to terminate the pregnancy, the current commonly used drugs are mifepristone tablets and prostaglandin combined application. First of all, pregnant women need to undergo ultrasound examination to exclude ectopic pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy is an important contraindication to medical abortion) and effective verification of pregnancy, after the examination to confirm the possibility of medical abortion can be arranged. Under the guidance of the doctor, the pregnant woman should take mifepristone on an empty stomach for 2 consecutive days and fast for 1 hour after taking the drug; on the morning of the third day, she should take misoprostol on an empty stomach. Mifepristone tablets cause degeneration and necrosis of the uterine metaplasia and softening of the cervix, while misoprostol promotes uterine contractions and facilitates the expulsion of the embryo. Misoprostol is usually expelled the same day the pregnancy sac is taken. The abortion is often prone to numerous other medical conditions, so it should be performed under strict medical supervision. It is also important to take rest and cleanliness after a medical abortion and not to have sexual intercourse for one month.
