Shining the sword to “intervene” health in life

“The 21st century is the century of minimally invasive and the century of intervention.” With its unsurpassed advantages of minimally invasive, simple, safe, quick results, effective, less complications and significantly shorter hospital stay, interventional therapy is recognized by more and more patients and its applications are becoming more and more widespread. There are specialties in the field of surgery. Pan Xiaoping, the director and deputy chief physician of the interventional department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology, has been engaged in interventional diagnosis and treatment for 13 years, and his exquisite technology and noble medical ethics have benefited countless patients and re-involved health in their lives, which has also won the recognition of all walks of life. Pan Xiaoping, Department of Interventional Vascular Surgery, Wuhai People’s Hospital Interventional therapy is an emerging frontier discipline that integrates medical imaging and clinical therapeutics, which is rapidly developed in recent medicine. This has opened up a new effective treatment pathway for previously considered incurable or intractable diseases.    However, Pan Xiaoping’s path of using interventional therapy to add points to life and protect health has not been a smooth one. He graduated from Inner Mongolia Medical College in 1995 and then went to Beijing People’s Hospital from 1997 to 1998 to study interventional therapy, bringing back advanced medical technology and concepts to the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, and in 2003, he founded the Interventional Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College after several experiments. From 2007 to 2010, he studied in the Department of Gastroenterology of Baotou Medical College for his master’s degree, learning minimally invasive endoscopic treatment. By steadily moving forward one step at a time, the light of countless lives finally shines again in the hands of Pan Xiaoping, and life can become a miracle. He has accumulated rich clinical experience, specializing in angiography, tumor intervention, obstructive jaundice drainage, cyst puncture, tubal recanalization, etc. He can operate gastroscopy independently and is familiar with the process of microscopic treatment, preoperative preparation and postoperative care; he understands the theory of minimally invasive treatment and implements it gradually in his work.    “The blue peach in the sky is planted with the dew, and the red apricot by the sun is planted by the clouds”. With the expansion of interventional technology, Pan Xiaoping led his team to work hard, and the interventional department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College has grown from small to big, from weak to strong, and gradually developed into a comprehensive department that can carry out various interventional diagnosis and treatment of tumor, heart, neurology, gastroenterology, orthopedics, etc. With first-class environment, first-class equipment and first-class technology, the department is at the advanced level in China, just like a beautiful oddball, overflowing with color.    Over the years, Pan Xiaoping has interpreted the spirit of Baiqiu’en as a medical worker who is committed to technical excellence, highly responsible for work, and extremely enthusiastic about patients, and the ardent medical love of interventionalists for patients, with full of true love and practical actions. At present, the annual operation volume of the department is nearly 1,000, which is a testimony to the hardship and effectiveness of Pan Xiaoping’s work. One of the patients told her story that she had been examined in another hospital and her fallopian tubes were completely blocked, and the doctor told her that there was little hope for treatment and that even interventional surgery would only give her a 20%-30% hope of cure. Then she remembered that when she was examined at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College, the doctor’s attitude was particularly good in both the examination and the treatment.    The way of God rewards hard work. With his strong sense of enterprise and mission, Pan Xiaoping has challenged himself and climbed to the peak of science and technology, bringing life back to countless patients and enabling many patients with difficult clinical treatment to receive timely and effective treatment. He has also developed a unique theory, principles and methods of interventional therapy in practice, which has continuously enriched the connotation of the emerging discipline of interventional therapy. Pan Xiaoping has participated in five regional scientific research projects and published more than ten national papers. One of the research projects won the second prize of scientific and technological progress of Inner Mongolia Medical Association and two won the third prize of scientific and technological progress of Baotou City; the paper “Clinical Study on the Prevention of Post-ERCP Pancreatitis by Pancreatic Duct Stenting” was published in the American Journal of Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics (impact factor 4.312) and was indexed by SCI. In addition, he has won many honors: he was awarded as an advanced individual of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology for many times, and was awarded as an excellent communist member of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology in 2006, and became a young member of the Tumor Imaging Interventional Committee of Inner Mongolia Anti-Cancer Association in 2007, and was awarded as one of the top ten doctors of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology in the same year. In 2010, he became a member of the Radiology Branch of Inner Mongolia Medical Association, as well as the deputy head of the 6th Imaging Interventional Specialized Group of the Baotou Medical Association, and in 2011, he was awarded as one of the top ten doctors and operational experts of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology.    In the face of achievements and honors, Pan Xiaoping has never stopped moving forward. This angel in white who has been rushing in the front line, with his excellent medical skills, is ready to show his “interventional” sword to the diseases and stubborn illnesses that threaten human life.
