Can an eyeball be transplanted?

Current medical technology does not allow for surgical eye transplants, but eye tissue transplants such as corneal transplants can be achieved.
The eyeball, as an organ of vision, consists of the wall of the eyeball and the refracting mechanism inside it, and the back end of the eyeball is connected to the brain through the optic nerve. The eyeball consists of the retina, sclera, cornea, lens, etc. It is a delicate sensory organ due to its fine structure and dense distribution of nerves. Eye transplantation is not possible with current medical technology, but cornea transplantation can be done to improve vision.
Eyeball transplantation is very difficult and it is not yet possible to reconnect the optic nerve after transplantation to restore the patient’s vision, so it is not yet possible to transplant the eyeball.
It is recommended that patients with ocular discomfort seek prompt medical attention to evaluate their condition and select appropriate treatment as prescribed by their doctor.
