HPV negative test every few years

Combined HPV and TCT screening is generally recommended for clinical cervical cancer screening. If double negative for HPV and TCT, screening once every 3-5 years is sufficient. If the patient is negative for HPV alone, screening once every 1-2 years is recommended. If the patient is negative for TCT alone, annual screening is required; TCT examinations are performed mainly on cells from the squamous junction of the cervix, which is the most common site for cervical cancer in women. More than 90% of cervical cancer is caused by HPV infection and less than 10% is not related to HPV. Therefore, infection is very common in young women, but most of the infection is transient, so HPV surveillance is not recommended as primary screening in young women, especially in adolescence.
