Is HPV negative still cancerous?

HPV negativity only means that the chance of cancer is relatively low, but not that there is no possibility of cancer. In the cervical HPV test, there are high-risk and low-risk viral infections. High-risk types, especially type 16 and type 18, are more closely related to cervical cancer, while low-risk types are more closely related to warts like vulvar condyloma. If the cervical HPV test is negative at this time, it should be combined with cervical TCT test. If the result of TCT test is still normal at this time, the concern about the chance of cervical cancer can be reduced, and it is only necessary to have the relevant test again in 1-2 years afterwards. However, if HPV is negative and TCT reveals the presence of atypical squamous epithelial cells, follow-up colposcopic cervical biopsy is still required to rule out the possibility of cervical cancer.
