The chance of getting cancer from HPV negative test is relatively small, but there is about 10% leakage rate when HPV test is done alone, so if you do pre-cancer screening, it is better to do TCT and HPV combined test, the leakage rate of these two tests is very low, about 1%. If the HPV test is negative and the TCT test is normal, it is usually possible to review the test after 3-5 years, and the chance of getting cancer in this case is very small, around 1%. If the test is positive for HPV and the type is high-risk, and precancerous lesions of the cervix appear during the TCT test, colposcopy is the next step, and the next treatment will be determined based on the results of the colposcopy.
