Varicose veins usually refer to primary varicose veins of the lower limbs. Usually, you can walk on the ground 24 hours after the operation, and you can exercise after the operation, but you should avoid strenuous exercise for 3 months.
Patients with primary varicose veins of the lower limbs can do some foot flexion, extension and rotation during the bed rest period, but they should avoid over-exertion to rupture the varicose veins and bleed. In order to avoid the formation of deep vein thrombosis, walking on the ground can be started 24 hours after surgery to promote venous return. Surgical patients should continue to use compression stockings or elastic bandages for 1~3 months after surgery.
In general, patients should avoid strenuous activities and prolonged standing for 3 months, pay attention to rest, and should be guided by the doctor to remove factors affecting the venous return of the lower limbs, such as avoiding the use of too tight clothing, planned weight loss, maintaining good posture, avoiding prolonged standing and sitting.
After surgery for primary varicose veins of the lower extremities, patients should follow the doctor’s recommendations for activity.
