Periodontal treatment is mainly manual periodontal basic treatment, such as supragingival scaling and subgingival scraping. Scraping parties include ultrasonic scaling machines and manual scrapers. Periodontal scraping methods are generally subgingival ultrasound and manual scraping with special instruments such as Gracey scrapers and fiber ultrasound instruments. With manual scalers, there are different instruments for each area and the patient and the doctor have to work with each other for regional instrument selection, delivering the instruments from the bottom of the pocket to the root of the tartar and using wrist force to scrape the tartar away instead of removing it in layers. Manual manipulation requires strict standardized training to complete the scraping procedure, which is equivalent to minor surgery, to prevent periodontal injury and to avoid pushing the tartar deeper and forming periodontal abscesses.
