Why is the thyroid important?

Hello, dear people! In recent years, my exposure has reached one peak after another without words, and the controversy about me, has become more and more intense. People are increasingly keen to focus on and find those tiny cancers or nodules in my body that were previously undetectable and undiagnosed, and with them, endless treatments for me, leaving me and my loving hosts increasingly vulnerable. For those of you who may not be familiar with me, I will first make a brief introduction of myself. I am sometimes shaped like a butterfly spreading its wings in the human observation field, only slightly less flying, and sometimes shaped like a gentleman’s bow tie, brown and red in color, highlighting my dignified elegance. My residence is surrounded by streams (common carotid artery, internal jugular vein) and peaks (cartilage of the nail bone, tracheal cartilage). My neighbors, one after the other, are even more indispensable, the Hercules (muscle groups) that move the head and neck from side to side, the monopolizing giants (esophagus, trachea) that replenish food and oxygen, the conductors (vagus, laryngeal return nerve) that convey orders, and so on. I, myself, make T3 and T4, produce calcitonin, regulate metabolism and growth rate, and regulate calcium balance in the body. This is me, beautifully shaped like a butterfly, like a shield armor protection. And living in the present, I have become a “magnified” controversy. In the face of controversy, I think this is also an embarrassing situation for you humans. In Korea, for example, the incidence of cancer in me has increased to 15 times the initial rate in the past 20 years. In China, the situation is equally bleak. ”This makes nail cancer one of the fastest growing cancers,” says Brito of Mayo Medical Center in the United States. But a puzzling phenomenon ensued: the diagnosis rate rose dramatically, and the death rate, which was due to me, did not follow. Brito and his colleagues explain that the increased diagnosis of microscopic cancers has been driven in large part by advances in high-tech imaging technologies, such as the widespread use of ultrasound, CT and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which can now detect nodules as small as 2 mm in my body. “ Where are all the new cancer patients associated with me coming from? They’ve been there all along. As early as 1947, pathologists found that cancerous foci in my body were frequently found in autopsies, even though they were rarely the cause of death. The cancerous foci in my body, found time and time again by your discerning eyes, and the ensuing often lead to over-treatment of me, including unnecessary surgery. I was removed without mercy and the rate of surgery rose dramatically, but the post-operative results showed that almost everyone had tiny “papillary” cancers, many of which had no visible symptoms for the rest of their lives. I could sense the owner’s nervousness and emotional turmoil when he heard that he had cancer. I also adore doctors, the pursuit of diagnostic accuracy and medical advances, the care that goes into removing the lesions from my body, and even understand the harm that some doctors have to do to me for profit. After all, in the current medical environment, “it is better to kill a thousand by mistake than to spare one” is an effective way for doctors to get out of their responsibilities and for owners to get rid of psychological torture. However, what I want to tell you is that with my removal, my dear master will likely need drug replacement therapy for the rest of his life, and it will take a long time for the doctors to find the proper dose for his master. In the meantime, the owner will have to suffer the consequences of low or high thyroxine levels, including fluctuations in energy and weight. More than once, I have seen my owner mentally burned out, physically exhausted, or going in the opposite direction due to my absence. Even, as a result of the inevitable manipulations that hurt my lovely neighbors, the quality of my master’s life was greatly diminished. Looking at the increasing number of diagnoses of microscopic cancer on your reports, looking at the scalpel wielded in your hands, and watching the painful life of my master who left me, my heart could not be at peace for a long time. In my previous life, I have experienced hundreds of millions of years of evolution, with my master’s happiness, sadness, and physical changes, I secreted the precise dose of hormones every second, every minute, trying my best to ensure the master’s physical and mental balance. So, without my master, relying on simple drugs, how can I feel at ease? Of course, for those lesions in my body that have occupied an important position and may greatly affect my master’s life, I strongly agree with the doctors to help me remove them, because my master’s life comes first, and there is no doubt about this, for me. Happily, I am hearing more and more of the warmest words for me, and already people are calling for the fact that most discoveries of cancerous lesions in my body are not destined to be inevitable or risky for my owner, and that doctors should explain to my owner that in many cases, active monitoring rather than surgical treatment is the most appropriate means of management, and that treating the nodule if there is evidence that it is showing more aggressive behavior does not cause a There is no delay in treatment if there is evidence of more aggressive behavior in the nodule. As time progresses, medicine is bound to become more sophisticated. I don’t mind being judged for the hidden lesions in my body, and I don’t mind being removed when necessary, but please be more humane to your fellow man and less unnecessarily hurtful to me. Remember, I am an irreplaceable member of your body. Love your thyroid forever!
