What does MCH mean?

MCH is the abbreviation for mean erythrocyte hemoglobin volume, which is the average amount of red blood cells contained in each red blood cell, measured in pg, with a normal range of 27-34 pg. If MCH is greater than 34 pg, it is commonly seen in megaloblastic anemia, pernicious anemia, hemolytic anemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome. If MCH is less than 27 pg, it is commonly seen in iron deficiency anemia, pearl protein production disorder anemia, iron granulocytic anemia, thalassemia, and also in anemia caused by chronic infection, liver disease, uremia, malignancy, rheumatic diseases, etc.
