Efavirenz tablets are generally used for the treatment of HIV, but not for the treatment of hepatitis B. The specific use of the drug should follow the doctor’s instructions. Efavirenz tablets are a selective non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor targeting the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) and are suitable for use in combination with other antiviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infected adults, adolescents and children (i.e., AIDS), and should not be used alone in the treatment of HIV or added to ineffective therapeutic regimens as a single agent. Contraindications include significant hypersensitivity to any of the components of this product and should not be combined with voriconazole, terfenadine, cisapride, midazolam, triazolam, astemizole, pimozide, bepridil or ergot derivatives. The most common adverse events following administration are rash, dizziness, nausea, headache and malaise. Specific medications should be administered under the supervision of a specialist.
