Ping Stomach San is a formula with the effects of drying dampness and transporting the spleen, moving qi and harmonizing the stomach (regulating the stomach and internal organs by promoting the operation of qi), and has the effect of treating the evidence of dampness stagnation in the spleen and stomach. The original medicines and dosage are 120g of Atractylodes macrocephala, 90g of Atractylodes macrocephala, etc. When used, it is finely powdered, 4~6g per serving, and sent down with ginger and jujube decocted in soup; or made into soup and taken with decocted water, with the specific dosage added or subtracted by the professional physician according to the proportion of the original formula. The main composition of Ping Stomach San is four taels of Atractylodes macrocephala (120g), three taels of Atractylodes macrocephala (90g), two taels of Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (60g), and one or two taels of Glycyrrhiza Uralensis (30g). It is mainly used for the treatment of dampness stagnation in the spleen and stomach, which is characterized by distension and fullness in the epigastrium (abdomen), inappetence, tastelessness, nausea and vomiting, belching (hiccup), acid swallowing (swallowing of acid water in the stomach upward to the oropharynx), heaviness of the limbs, laziness and sleepiness, and often much self-liberation. Because this formula is hard, warm and dry, it should not be used by those with deficiency of yin and stagnation of qi, or weakness of the spleen and stomach. This formula should be taken under the guidance of a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner for diagnosis, and should not be used blindly on its own to avoid delaying the condition.
