How can shadows in the lungs rule out lung cancer?

Lung shadows are a frequently seen lung manifestation on imaging. Most shadows seen on chest X-rays in patients with lung cancer are spherical with poorly defined borders, some of which may have burrs. If the shadows are flaky or semi-flaky and appear more extensive, they may simply be inflammation or effusion and nodules.
It is recommended that if symptoms do not resolve and the shadows do not resolve themselves, prompt access to a hospital for a systematic investigation, such as fibreoptic bronchoscopy or CT-located puncture biopsy, can help the doctor make a clear diagnosis.
