  Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) refer to a group of infectious diseases that are transmitted mainly through sexual contact. The STDs specified in the regulations related to the prevention and control of infectious diseases in China include gonorrhea, syphilis, condyloma acuminatum, genital chlamydia, genital herpes, soft chancre, venereal lymphogranuloma and AIDS, etc.; while STDs in the broad sense include more than 20 kinds of infectious diseases that can be transmitted through sexual contact, such as genital candidiasis, vaginal trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, pubic lice, scabies, infectious molluscum contagiosum, hepatitis B, amoebiasis and ringworm. More than 20 types of infectious diseases that can be transmitted through sexual contact are also included in this list, which is called a broad range of sexually transmitted diseases.   STDs are a group of common infectious diseases prevalent worldwide. Currently, syphilis, gonorrhea, genital chlamydia, condyloma acuminatum, genital herpes, and AIDS are widely prevalent in China, while soft chancre and lymphogranuloma venereum are mostly found in tropical and subtropical developing countries, and are occasionally reported in China. The epidemic of STDs has a serious impact on people’s physical, mental and reproductive health, and the epidemic of STDs is accelerating the spread of AIDS.
