What to do if you have follicles in your eyes

Follicles in the eye are usually seen in conjunctivitis. The cause of follicles is an abnormal change in the conjunctiva due to local inflammatory irritation. Therefore, the first step in the treatment of this disease is to address the specific cause of conjunctivitis. In the case of bacterial conjunctivitis, antibiotics such as levofloxacin hydrochloride eye drops and tobramycin eye drops can be used. If the conjunctivitis is viral, antiviral medications such as ribavirin eye drops or ganciclovir eye gel may be used. In the case of immune conjunctivitis due to long-term contact lens wear, the first step in this case is to suspend contact lens wear and use topical glucocorticoids, such as flomylone eye drops. In the early stages of allergic conjunctivitis, local cold compresses can be applied and antihistamines such as sodium tryptophan drops or azelaic acid drops can be used. This way the inflammation is controlled and the conjunctival follicles will return to normal.
