What is the tips intervention?

TIPS interventional surgery clinic is also known as transjugular intrahepatic portal vein shunt, which is less traumatic and quicker recovery, and is the most important method of treating acute variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding. TIPS is usually performed in the right internal jugular vein, with ultrasound-guided access to the inferior vena cava, to the confluence of the hepatic vein and vena cava, and to the deep right hepatic vein. Finally, the right hepatic branch of the portal vein is quickly punctured several centimeters deep into the liver parenchyma, and an overlying stent is delivered to complete the construction of the TIPS shunt channel. This interventional procedure has the advantages of light injury, small blow to the patient, and real hemostatic effect, and it can be utilized in patients with poor liver function and general condition to achieve a better near-term efficacy. Usually, the factors affecting the success of TIPS procedure are mainly the anatomical factors of the liver, large amount of ascites and portal vein cavernous degeneration; common complications include abdominal hemorrhage, hepatic encephalopathy, and stent failure. It is recommended that patients go to regular hospitals for treatment in time according to their symptoms, so as not to delay the condition and cause serious consequences.
