Is it safe to use medication to reduce fever in children?

For children ≥2 months of age with axillary temperature ≥38.2°C or oral temperature ≥38.5°C, oral acetaminophen should be administered under medical supervision at a minimum interval of 6 hours for each dose, in conjunction with physical cooling.
For children ≥6 months of age, oral acetaminophen or ibuprofen should be administered under medical supervision with a minimum interval of 6-8 hours between each dose. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen have similar fever-reducing effects and safety, and the regulated use of antipyretics within a reasonable dose range is safe and effective.
