How many years can you normally live with IgA nephropathy?

After active and standardized treatment, most patients with IgA nephropathy can survive for more than 10 years, and some of them can even survive for more than 20 years; if they are not actively diagnosed and treated in a standardized way, they may only survive for a few years, and there is a big difference between individuals. Some patients have a good long-term prognosis, but some patients may rapidly progress to renal failure. The survival time of IgA nephropathy is usually related to the degree of the disease and whether or not the treatment is standardized. Patients with mild disease can survive for more than 20 years after long-term standardized treatment. Most of the patients with average severity of the disease can survive for about 10 years after active and standardized treatment. However, there are also a few patients with severe disease and obvious kidney function impairment, whose life expectancy is probably between several years. IgA Nephropathy cannot be completely cured at present, but the progression of the disease can be slowed down through standardized diagnosis and treatment, which can prolong the survival time of the patients appropriately. Patients are advised to go to the hospital for regular checkups. It is recommended that patients with IgA Nephropathy should seek medical treatment in time to improve their survival time and quality of life.
