Is it normal to wake up in the morning with watery discharge in late pregnancy?

It is not normal to wake up in the morning in late pregnancy with a watery like discharge suggesting a possible premature rupture of membranes. Rupture of membranes occurs before labor and is called premature rupture of membranes. The causes of premature rupture of membranes include reproductive tract infections, increased pressure in the amniotic cavity, and nutrient deficiencies. Premature rupture of membranes is characterized by painless vaginal effusion of large amounts of fluid and a dramatic decrease in amniotic fluid volume on ultrasound. Amnioscopy allows direct visualization of the fetal prenatal area, and the diagnosis can be made by not seeing the anterior amniotic sac. Premature rupture of membranes increases the likelihood of maternal and fetal infection and increases the probability of preterm delivery. Pregnancy outcome is related to gestational week; the smaller the gestational week, the worse the perinatal prognosis. Therefore, when vaginal fluid is detected in late pregnancy, it is important to go to the hospital and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment and, if necessary, termination of pregnancy.
