What causes high transforming growth factor Beta?

Elevated transforming growth factor Beta, or transforming growth factor-beta, can be caused by autoimmune diseases, or by liver or lung disease or tumors. Transforming growth factor-beta can regulate cell growth and differentiation, and also has a certain regulatory effect on immune function. For example, it promotes the growth of fibroblasts, osteoblasts and Shewan’s cells; inhibits the formation of epithelial cells, osteoclasts, etc.; inhibits the proliferation of immunoreactive cells; and inhibits the differentiation of lymphocytes. When it is elevated, it may be that the patient suffers from autoimmune diseases such as leukemia, or it may be caused by cirrhosis of the liver, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, etc. In addition, when there is the presence of tumors in the body, it will also cause a certain elevation of transforming growth factor-β, and therefore the possibility of tumors is not excluded. Since the elevation is not specific, further examination is usually needed to clarify, such as antibody test, liver and kidney function test, blood routine, CT and so on. Patients are advised to consult their doctors for clarification of the cause according to their own situation.
