Mild tricuspid regurgitation is often referred to as tricuspid valve closure insufficiency, which is usually asymptomatic, while in severe patients, its symptoms mainly include body venous stasis manifestations, heart rhythm abnormalities, gastrointestinal symptoms and other symptoms.
In general, mild tricuspid regurgitation does not cause any symptoms.
Moderate to severe tricuspid regurgitation can present with the following symptoms:
1. venous stasis: it can be seen in the early stage of the disease, commonly including jugular vein filling and throbbing, persistent edema or ascites, hepatosplenomegaly, etc.
2. Abnormal heart rhythm: systolic murmur can be heard on auscultation at the left edge of the sternum, which is enhanced during inspiration.
3. Gastrointestinal symptoms: some of them may have gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.
4. Other symptoms: some of them may have jaundice, malnutrition, fatigue and so on.
Patients with mild tricuspid regurgitation are advised to consult a doctor in time if they feel unwell.
