The skeletal structure below the right clavicle is the rib cage, which is surrounded by the body’s chest muscles. Most of the painful symptoms that can be produced locally by breathing are caused by lesions or injuries to the ribs and intercostal muscles. In particular, local exertional injuries are more easily ignored. When one limb is frequently and repeatedly subjected to excessive activity or physical work, the intercostal muscles can be damaged, resulting in painful pulling and stimulation of the intercostal muscles during breathing. Patients with minor rib fractures may experience minor bone fractures in the ribs due to previous excessive external force or localized violence, which may also result in localized painful symptoms during breathing. When symptoms occur, local radiographs should be examined promptly to confirm the diagnosis and provide prompt treatment.
