The most common causes of knee inversion are congenital knee inversion and acquired knee inversion. The most common cause of acquired knee inversion is osteoarthritis of the knee in older people, which causes wear and tear of the medial compartment. If the knee inversion does not cause symptoms of pain and limited mobility, no special treatment is needed. If there are symptoms, especially if it causes pain in the medial compartment of the knee, recurrent swelling, joint effusion, or even limited mobility, conservative treatment, arthroscopic joint cleaning, osteotomies and orthopedic treatments, and arthroplasty, including unicondylar replacement and total knee surface replacement, may be used depending on the specific case.
