What causes gastric polyps?

The causes of gastric polyps include Helicobacter pylori, bile reflux, and atrophic gastritis.
1. Helicobacter pylori: a common cause of chronic gastritis is Helicobacter pylori infection, long-term chronic inflammation stimulates the gastric mucosa, gastric epithelial cell hyperplasia, which will induce the formation of gastric polyps.
2. Bile reflux: Bile reflux into the stomach for a long time, can also induce gastric mucosal inflammatory reaction. Because a large amount of bile can destroy the acidic environment in the stomach, thus leading to the production of gastric polyps.
3. Atrophic gastritis: patients with atrophic gastritis will have proliferation of gastric mucosal epithelial cells, which will develop into gastric polyps in the later stage if not effectively treated or controlled.
In addition to the above reasons will lead to gastric polyps, like some of the triggering causes, such as diet, long-term depressed mood, irregular work and rest, smoking and drinking can also induce gastric polyps.
For gastric polyps coexisting with H. pylori infection, eradication of H. pylori treatment is often required, and currently quadruple therapy is used, i.e., one proton pump inhibitor, one bismuth agent and two antibiotics such as omeprazole, clarithromycin, amoxicillin, and bismuth potassium citrate. Gastric polyps can be removed microscopically or through surgery if necessary.
