The cause of gout is due to persistent hyperuricemia in the body. These high uric acids in an oversaturated state will form urate microcrystals, and these microcrystals are deposited in the joints, which will induce inflammation of the joints, which will lead to redness, swelling, pain, and tenderness of the joints, which is the main reason for the formation of gout. Therefore, for patients with gout, it is necessary to lower the level of blood uric acid. Only by stabilizing the blood uric acid below 360μmol/L continuously, it is possible to reduce the recurrence of gout. There are two main categories of uric acid-lowering drugs that can be chosen clinically: first, allopurinol and febuxostat, which inhibit the production of uric acid; and second, benzbromarone, which promotes the excretion of uric acid. Clinically, according to the patient’s condition, to choose one of the above drugs, for continuous treatment of uric acid-lowering drugs.
