Meaning of low lymphocyte percentage

Low percentage of lymphocytes refers to a low percentage of total lymphocytes in the blood, the normal value of lymphocyte ratio is 20%-40%, if the lymphocyte ratio <20%, it means that the percentage of lymphocytes is low. A low percentage of lymphocytes may be caused by a decrease in the percentage of total white blood cells occupied or an increase in the number of other cells inside the white blood cells.
1. The presence of purulent bacterial infections in the body may result in a high neutrophil count, leading to an increase in the number of other cells within the white blood cells, resulting in a relative decrease in the percentage of lymphocytes.
2. Hematologic disorders: A common cause is a bone marrow hematopoietic problem that leads to a decrease in the total number of lymphocytes, which is reflected in a low lymphocyte ratio. Bone marrow aspiration may be needed for further diagnosis.
Low lymphocyte percentage may be caused by other reasons, it is recommended to go to the hospital as soon as possible for examination to clarify the cause of the disease and timely treatment.
