Can chronic nephritis be cured?

Chronic nephritis mostly develops from primary glomerular diseases of different etiology and usually cannot be cured. However, with active and effective treatment, it can slow down the progressive deterioration of renal function, improve or relieve clinical symptoms and prevent cardiovascular and cerebrovascular complications. Common treatments include: general treatment, drug treatment, dialysis treatment and so on. 1. General treatment: in order to avoid aggravating the burden on the kidneys, patients need to limit the intake of salt, protein and phosphorus, and actively control the blood pressure level. At the same time, patients need to take streptomycin, gentamicin and other nephrotoxic drugs with caution. 2. Drug therapy: ACEI or ARB drugs such as captopril and irbesartan can be applied to lower blood pressure and reduce urinary protein. If patients have no obvious contraindications, glucocorticoids and cytotoxic drugs such as prednisone and cyclophosphamide can also be applied. Patients with severe edema can relieve symptoms by using diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide. 3. Dialysis treatment: Patients with severe chronic glomerulonephritis can be treated with hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis to remove excessive metabolic wastes from the body and slow down the development of the disease. All of the above medications should be used under the guidance of a doctor, avoid self-medication. Patients with chronic nephritis are advised to go to regular hospitals in time for treatment under the guidance of doctors.
