Does membranous nephropathy require lifelong medication?

Membranous nephropathy does not require lifelong medication. Membranous nephropathy is one of the most common pathological types in nephrotic syndrome, which is clinically characterized by massive proteinuria, hypoproteinemia, hyperlipidemia, and severe edema. For the treatment of membranous nephropathy, first of all, we need to check the renal puncture to clarify the specific pathological stage, and we can use ACEI or ARB drugs to reduce the urinary protein and protect the kidneys, and the more commonly used drugs are Irbesartan, Benadryl and so on. Through these medications, about 1/3 of the patients can achieve clinical remission. If the symptoms of nephropathy are not relieved after 6 months of treatment, hormone combined with immunosuppressant treatment can be added, the more commonly used treatment program is small dose of hormone combined with tacrolimus, or hormone combined with cyclophosphamide, the total course of treatment is 1-1.5 years. After these treatments, most of the patients with membranous nephropathy can achieve remission, and after remission, the drugs can be slowly discontinued without lifelong medication.
