How to determine the severity of infant jaundice

How to judge the severity of infant jaundice can be determined by observing the part of the infant with jaundice and testing the severity through blood sampling.
1. Observe the part of jaundice: if the jaundice of infants only shows some yellowing of the skin on the face and no yellowing in other parts of the body, the jaundice is usually mild; if the skin on the chest and the skin on the limbs is yellow, it indicates that there is a moderate degree of jaundice, and if the whole body is yellow including the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet, the jaundice is more serious.
2. Blood test: Blood test for total bilirubin, direct bilirubin and indirect bilirubin levels in liver function can be taken to diagnose the severity of jaundice, which is also the most accurate test.
It is recommended that babies with yellowing skin should go to the hospital in time for examination and treatment under doctor’s guidance.
