Fusidic acid cream is an antibiotic. The primary action of fusidic acid is antibacterial and at higher concentrations may have bactericidal effects. Fusidic acid cream is primarily indicated for skin infections caused by Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Propionibacterium acnes, Corynebacterium minimus, and other bacteria sensitive to fusidic acid, such as impetigo, boils and carbuncles, nail infections, trauma infections, beard sores, sweat glands, ringworm, folliculitis, and acne vulgaris. The most common adverse reactions of patients during treatment are skin reactions, including itching and rash, and symptoms at the site of administration, such as pain and irritation. Use around the eyes should be avoided as much as possible, and if severe irritation occurs during administration, or if an allergic reaction occurs, the medication should be discontinued and treated with other appropriate medication.
