Diagnostic criteria for IgG4-related diseases

IgG4-related disease is a new disease that has been gradually recognized in the last few years, and the diagnostic criteria for this disease include 3 aspects, as follows: 1) clinical symptoms with enlargement of one or more organs; 2) laboratory examination with significant elevation of IgG4; 3) pathological diagnosis is one of the most important indicators for diagnosis of IgG4. Pathologic tissues of organs show IgG4-stained plasma cells accounting for more than 40% of all plasma cells. If all 3 are satisfied the diagnosis of IgG4 related disease can be confirmed. Patients who suspect the disease should go to the rheumatology department for relevant examinations, including blood tests for IgG4 and pathologic biopsies.
