The commonly used EEG in clinic includes EEG topography and dynamic EEG. In recent years, video EEG has been widely used in more and more general hospitals, especially epilepsy centers, and we would like to briefly introduce what is video EEG and what are the advantages of video EEG. Video EEG combines EEG tracing technology and camera technology, and applies electronic computer technology, which can monitor the patient’s clinical activities and EEG synchronously over a long period of time, and provide reliable information for differential diagnosis and epilepsy typing. According to the clinical seizure characteristics and EEG changes can distinguish the clinical type of epilepsy, in order to guide the use of medication, at present, it is considered that the video EEG is the most effective examination method to identify the nature and type of seizure disorders, and is also a reliable method to identify epileptic and non-epileptic seizures, and it is one of the important bases of epilepsy classification generally adopted in the international arena. Video EEG can accurately observe and analyze the relationship between clinical and EEG, and the localization is more accurate, which can improve the diagnosis level. In conclusion, video EEG is an extension of ordinary EEG technology, which makes up for the shortcomings of ordinary EEG, prolongs the tracing time, improves the positive rate of epilepsy diagnosis, and can objectively play back the recorded seizures, and can also synchronize the observation of seizure EEG, which is of great significance for the diagnosis of epilepsy and the localization of epileptogenic foci.
