How to deal with jaundice in the late stage of liver cancer

Primary liver cancer mainly includes three different pathological types: hepatocellular carcinoma, intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, and mixed hepatocellular carcinoma, of which hepatocellular carcinoma accounts for more than 85% to 90%. Advanced hepatocellular carcinoma is almost always clinically manifested by jaundice.

Jaundice is a common clinical symptom and sign. It occurs as a result of elevated intra-serum bilirubin concentration due to impaired bilirubin metabolism, usually manifesting as yellow staining of the sclera and skin and dark yellow or even strong tea-like urine.

Patients with obstructive jaundice due to compression or obstruction of the biliary system by cancer tissue can be treated with a combination of radiofrequency ablation, radiation therapy, molecular targeted therapy, and Chinese medicine to reduce tumor size and drainage of bile to reduce tumor compression and biliary stasis.
